Join me as I ride around Wimbledon Common with Wimbledon Village Stables, as filmed on 2nd September 2021.

I am riding Bertie and I am joined by my riding instructor Nadia, who is riding Rupert.

I first came riding to Wimbledon Village Stables in 2014. Originally intended to be a one-off hack for the day back then, within two years I started riding there regularly. The staff are friendly and all of the horses are looked after and cared for so well, they really enjoy being ridden out onto the common on a daily basis.

The 2020 coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns meant I had to stop riding here for a while. At the time, I thought I would be back within a year, but it went on and on. Finally, after 19 months and 594 days in all, this was my first ride back at WVS.

I've been riding Bertie frequently since 2018, he is a beautiful Irish Sport horse and is my favourite horse at the stables, or should I say my favourite pony. That's because Bertie is quite small and nimble for his size, which is why I keep referring him as "good pony", but he's got a big heart and character, making him one of the most popular ponies at WVS. Bertie is also known as the swishiest pony - whenever he stands still, he just loves to swish and swish his tail back and forth! Riding Bertie always makes me so happy!
