With a heat dome over the U.S. and above-average temperatures expected in Canada this summer, there can be questions about how hot is too hot for the human body.

While some may look at the temperature or check humidity, a third aspect called the "wet-bulb temperature" can help in determining what impacts the heat could have on your body. According to researchers, the threshold was previously thought to be 35°C, but it could actually be as low as 31°C with 100 per cent humidity.

When the temperature hits that mark and you stay in the heat for six hours or more you could face serious health impacts, but as Global’s Sean Previl reports, there are things you can do to stay safe.
