On March 10, 2023 ICLR conducted a Friday Forum webinar titled 'The Expansion of Off-Site Construction and the Quest for Resilience', led by Ryan M. Colker, Vice President, Innovation at the International Code Council.
Interest in off-site construction is increasing as the building industry and society looks to address multiple challenges from the availability of a construction workforce to the affordability and availability of housing. At the same time, communities are facing increased exposure to hazards. This session explored how off-site construction can support achievement of multiple priorities including enhancing resilience and the benefits associated with factory-based construction and inspection processes.
Ryan M. Colker is Vice President, Innovation at the International Code Council where he leads the Energy, Resilience and Innovation Center of Focus. He also serves as Executive Director of the Alliance for National & Community Resilience (ANCR), a national coalition developing a holistic set of Community Resilience Benchmarks. Prior to joining ICC, Colker served as Vice President at the National Institute of Building Sciences.
