With all the recent interest in the Elektron Analog Heat +FX, I wanted to bring a little heat to the Analog Rytm MK2, in understanding a little more the distortion circuit and see what I can get out of it.

I am someone very used to distortion created on old Mackie mixers, and probably due to that find most other non-desk distortion sounding more like a layer or quality that in itself that seems clean somehow. The Mackie mixer, brings a distortion in everything and on everything that moves and reacts as the sounds change, especially when driving the main of the mixer, not just individual channels.

I have to say, that clean distortion feel, is what you get in the Analog Rytm Mk2. I don't dislike it, but as is the case with much of this machine, it takes time and work to create something that satisfies, which for the sound designers out there, this might scratch that itch. I am definitely someone who like things to sound good immediately, easily and often. I prefer trying to get good sounding gear sound interesting, over trying to get gear to simply sound good. Still, this is why I am using this machine everyday, so even the time consuming stuff becomes easier for me. I can learn my routes to good sounds and know where not to bother.

Shall I bother with the distortion, hmm, we will see. As is always the case, gotta put some hours in.
