Katherine Peinhardt's research bridges the gap between placemaking and climate adaptation, exploring the ways that communities can build both physical and social resilience to climate change through their public spaces. Through her work at nonprofits focused on the public realm and on urban sustainability, Katherine developed a paradigm around resilient public spaces — which she sees as an often-overlooked opportunity to build livelier, more climate-adapted cities. Her research project is hosted by the German Development Institute. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
