Wearing "Jews say ceasefire now", hundreds of protestors interrupted the first day of the California State legislative session. Banners unfurled from the chamber’s gallery read, “Jews say never again for anyone," "30,000 killed in Palestine," "Reinvest tax $$$ in healthcare, housing, schools, climate," among others.
Jim Wood, a Democratic assembly member who was presiding over the session, attempted to continue the session over the protesters' singing, but adjourned it a few minutes later. Nearly all of the lawmakers then left the floor, turning the lights off in the chamber. Yet, protesters only cheered more, turned on the flashlights on their phones, and continued to sing.
