From Paris to Moscow, European landmarks that are usually bustling with tourists are now empty as concerns and lockdowns over the COVID-19 pandemic keep people away.
Rome, a popular travel destination, now resembles a ghost town as Italy remains in lockdown in an effort to control the virus outbreak in the country, which had infected more than 150,000 individuals and killed over 19,000 as of April 12.
Paris has gone silent since self-isolation restrictions were put into place on March 17. France has a total of over 95,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 14,000 deaths.
Berlin's streets are also empty, as the number of confirmed infections in Germany rose on Sunday to more than 125,000.
More than 1.6 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally, and over 106,000 have died. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
