The Y Lift® is a non-surgical procedure founded on the notion of “structural volumizing”. This method is done by strategically placing cosmetic fillers much deeper than it normally placed when addressing semi-surface level imperfections such as wrinkles and deep lines. With the Y Lift®, fillers are placed in the deeper levels of the face, near the bone structure, where it creates an expansion of the deeper structures of the skin. This expansion is what restores youthful volume and creates a lifting effect in one’s face.
The Y Lift® is performed specifically by Y Lift®-trained cosmetic surgeons with experience in facial surgery, as it differs greatly from the regular filler treatments performed by dermatologists. The Y Lift® requires more detailed knowledge of bone structure, soft tissue, and muscle layers of the face for the proper placement of the filler. Since fillers are placed deeper in the Y Lift®, more filler can be placed as it has stronger support from the bone and muscle. Untrained cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists are limited to place filler just in the skin layers and soft tissue, which support much less weight than bone. Placing more than a modest amount of filler in skin and soft tissue results in an unnatural and/or "pillowy" appearance.
