This video shows the perspective from the fence that overlooks Turn 13 at Road America. Turn 13 is visually appealing as the cars come out of the forest. As far as action however, you’re not going to find much here. In my opinion, T12 is really the last passing opportunity drivers have unless it’s the last lap (in which they’ll dive bomb into 14. But enjoy the TransAm series as they run through this majestic section of the track.
My recommendation is that a fan should stop and watch a couple laps from this angle. Whether you’re heading into the forest or coming out of it, the visual appeal of this angle is worth the stop. No video monitor is here though so that’s why it’s downgraded. In addition, not a lot of action takes place here. However, again, it is awesome seeing the cars rip through this section of the track.
Coming to the National Park of Speed for the first time and unsure of where to sit or curious about trying another viewing experience for your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th+ visit? Well, you’re in luck, during the 2022 season, I visited Road America for the Summer NASCAR weekend. Sitting in different locations, I wanted to share each turn perspective so you know where you’d like to sit when visiting.
Located in Plymouth, WI (Just outside of Elkhart Lake), sits America’s National Park of Speed. Known as Road America, this 4.048 14 turn circuit sits on 640 acres of land near the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive. Maintaining its original confirmation since inception 1955, the track current hosts a the NASCAR Xfinity Series, WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, IndyCar Series, SCCA Pierelli World Challenge, and more. The entire venue is open seating which allows spectators to venture throughout the grounds during race day. Although there are stands at many different corners, to get the most out of the RA experience is to walk around to different turns.
