Mental health is as big a social issue as the environment, but seems to have less available solutions. The current medical paradigm of medicating or managing stress, anxiety and depression is not working: the system is broken.
A huge part of the problem in the UK is a lack of funding: just 13% of the NHS budget is spent on mental health and to successfully help the 11 million people (17% of the population) would require a 15 fold increase in spending...not happening.
However, there is a solution: Mental Wellness Education. Imagine leaving school understanding mental health issues, having emotional intelligence, knowing how your mind works and knowing who you are. We could transform the nation's mental health in a generation.
