The all-new BMW X1 is finally here to take on the entry-level luxury SUV segment. While the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3 are among the favourites, is also a great option. Let's take a look at how these cars stack up against each other.
BMW X1 Vs Audi Q3 Vs Mercedes-Benz GLA Vs Volvo XC40: Powertrain
Powering the BMW X1 is a 1.5-litre three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine generating 138PS and 230Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre inline-four turbocharged diesel motor that delivers 152PS and 360Nm of torque. Both units come mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The former provides an ARAI-tested fuel economy of 16.3kmpl, whereas the latter has an ARAI-certified mileage of 20.37kmpl.
Under the hood, the GLA can be had with one petrol and one diesel engine. The new 1.3-litre petrol is tuned to develop 161PS and 250Nm of torque while the potent 2.0-litre diesel motor puts out 190PS and 400Nm of torque. The latter can is also available with an all-wheel-drive configuration. The petrol guise is mated to a seven-speed DCT while the diesel version gets an eight-speed automatic transmission.
