Welcome to another chilling episode. Today's story is a twisted tale of greed, deception, and a deadly poisoning. Get ready to be shocked by the lengths one woman went to for what she thought was a massive inheritance.
It all went down in Minot, North Dakota. Ina Thea Kenoyer and her longtime boyfriend Steven Edward Riley Jr. were living together. One day, they got some crazy news - Riley had supposedly inherited a mind-blowing $30 million! Can you imagine? That's life-changing money.
Both Kenoyer and Riley were convinced the inheritance was real. They started making plans to live that baller lifestyle. But then, things took a dark turn. Just weeks after hearing about the supposed windfall, Riley was dead.
Here's where it gets really messed up. The police found a bottle of Windex in their living room that seemed to contain antifreeze. And the medical examiner determined Riley had been poisoned. Yep, you heard that right - poisoned by his own girlfriend!
On May 29th, 2024, Ina Thea Kenoyer stood in court and uttered a single, chilling word: "Guilty." She had pleaded guilty to murdering her boyfriend of a decade by poisoning him with antifreeze.
The court heard how Kenoyer had been motivated by that imaginary $30 million inheritance. Turns out, the whole thing was an elaborate scam. There was no inheritance at all.
But Kenoyer didn't know that when she slipped the deadly antifreeze into Riley's sweet tea before a meeting with a lawyer about his supposed new fortune. She wanted that money for herself.
The evidence was damning. Police found a Coors Light bottle and a mug with green liquid matching the Windex bottle containing antifreeze. And Riley's friends revealed that Kenoyer had previously discussed poisoning him with antifreeze!
Even after Riley was dead, Kenoyer kept spinning her web of lies. She claimed he had been day drinking and suffered heat stroke. She even suggested he might have accidentally smoked some antifreeze after dropping a cigarette in it!
Kenoyer proclaimed herself Riley's common-law wife and said she planned to split the inheritance with his son. But when cops told her North Dakota didn't recognize common-law marriages, she lost it.
Finally, she confessed to spiking his tea with antifreeze before that fateful meeting about his "inheritance." Her greed had driven her to commit the ultimate act of betrayal.
Kenoyer now faces up to life in prison without parole. She'll have plenty of time to ponder the steep price of her deadly scam as she rots behind bars.
