Riot police fire tear gas and water cannons at protesters in southern India as a demonstration turned violent. Dozens of protesters demonstrating under the banner of the 'Democratic Youth Federation of India' took to the streets of Thiruvananthapuram to demand that Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy step down over his alleged involvement in a financial scam.
Angry demonstrators pushed police barricades and hit at them with sticks. Some protesters were injured in the riots. Report by Sarah Kerr.
