During the Football World Cup tournament in South Africa in 2010, an incident occurred and changed the popular sport forever.
After years of debate, it ultimately led to the introduction of technology in football refereeing, also known as VAR. What lessons can schools take away from this outcome? Dr. Moshe Talesnik is a lecturer, educator, curriculum developer, and sports researcher. He completed his MA thesis and Ph.D. dissertation within the framework of the Science, Technology, Society (STS) graduate program at Bar-Ilan University. The MA thesis, submitted in 2012, focused on the avoidance of using technology in football refereeing. The Ph.D. dissertation, submitted in 2017, explored the evolution of expertise in a professional football club.
Since 2005, Dr. Talesnik has been working in curriculum development within the largest Israeli school network and has served as the head of the unit in the educational R&D center since 2017. Additionally, he has been a lecturer at Beit-Berl Academic College since 2016. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
