We wanted to make a video that featured sounds from Infinite Jets that are a bit more on the abrasive side. Instead of a typical demo format, we layered each preset a few times to show how it may be used in a recording context. Below are some additional notes on how we constructed this track.
BLUR
Each Blur preset was used to record the same phrase on the guitar. Blur +1 was double tracked and panned hard L/R respectively. Same with Blur -1, just not as drastically panned. Blur 0 is straight down the middle.
SYNTH
For Synth A, we recorded some knob movements on the Dimension control (manipulates filter in the synth presets). With drive all the way up, this created an abrasive noise layer that we double tracked and panned L/R. Synth B was used for the staccato guitar part - a fast LFO with short ENV TIME shot some lasers off of the notes. Hit the like button if you heard or saw lasers.
GLITCH
Recording knob movements on the Dimension knob or using the LFO on glitch presets is a game-changer. In Glitch A, sweeping through different points in the Dimension control alters the sample lengths of the repeating glitch effects. That’s what we did here, more times than we can remember.
SWELL
Dimension was turned up on Swell A (longer delay time) and subtly modulated the LFO, which turns it into a warbly, pitch-modulated delay. For this section, we tracked the same phrase multiple times but in different octaves on the guitar. This one was probably more like a quadruple track and pan.
