The world has 704 primate species, and 43 percent are critically endangered or endangered. Among the most endangered are the newly identified Tapanuli orangutan, with fewer than 800 individuals left in the wild, the golden-headed langur, with fewer than 50-60 individuals left, and the critically endangered rollaway monkey, with 2,000 individuals remaining in the wild.
But that's not all. Seven primate species have just been added to the endangered species list.This includes the Western chimpanzee, Bemanasy mouse lemur, Buffy tufted-ear marmoset, and others.
