A teary goodbye for an old friend. On Saturday 25th March 2017 NZ125/126 from Auckland to Melbourne was operated for the final time by an Air New Zealand Boeing 767-319(ER). The mighty 767 has been serving New Zealand and Australia for a number of years and having to say goodbye to it for one final time was by no means easy.
If you listen from 0:29 onwards you can hear the iconic CF6-80 engines in full voice as they stop ZK-NCG on Runway 27 for one final time. The Air New Zealand 767 service was Melbourne's only scheduled 767 passenger flight with now no airlines cargo or passenger servicing Melbourne. Although we must now say goodbye to this spectacular aircraft for one final time it is important to remember that when one generation of aircraft passes another comes along. So don't keep your head down for too long because it's only a matter of time before another futuristic airliner comes along that shocks the world.
Thank you, Air New Zealand one final time for providing years of enjoyment not only to the passengers onboard but also for spotters across the Oceania region for allowing us to see a 767.
My friends Matt and Matt will both be flying on the final Air New Zealand 767 flight from Auckland to Sydney later this week. I would highly recommend subscribing to their channels and staying tuned for not only in-flight footage but fantastic compilations of the 767.
