I've acquired a new tool/machine for the workshop, a 20 Ton manual hydraulic workshop press from SGS Engineering. Its been bought so we can continue on with the steam locomotive build with the ability to press bearings, cranks and even tweak slight curves out of the frames.

A hydraulic workshop press is commonly used to press interference fit parts together, such as gears onto shafts or bearings into housings, but it can also be used to bend material or used to straighten bar and rod in various materials, usually metal.

This is a more expensive but far more better quality press than the cheap ones off eBay. The SGS website states...

"This 20 Tonne H-frame hydraulic press is capable of bending, pressing or extruding and makes light work of installing ball joints, U-joints and pulleys - making it ideal for many automotive and industrial applications.

Includes a set of mandrel pressing attachments. The mandrills are 10, 12, 16, 18, 20, 22, 25 and 30mm in diameter.

The cylinder head glides across the width of the upper bolster allowing off-centre pressing.

This press exceeds the latest UK safety standards and is CE, TUV and GS marked.

This product comes with 10 year extended warranty."
