Des Moines police have arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting from early April.
31-year-old Joshua Ryan Carmody faces the following charges:
• Murder in the First Degree
• Burglary in the First Degree
Carmody is accused of fatally shooting 30-year-old Sayvon Propps on April 10.
Police believe Carmody forced his way into Propps' hotel room. When Propps fired his gun in self-defense, police say Carmody fired back, killing Propps.
Propps' death marked Des Moines' second homicide of 2024.
In addition to the shooting on April 10, Carmody is also charged with Interference With Official Acts in connection to a separate shooting.
