READ DOWN FOR ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON WORKING OUT OUTSPOTS
Finally got around to recording a video for how I do a coil on a genesis from scratch so by popular demand here it is.. By the way the juice is 100% PG so it isn't the MASSIVE cloud I'm usually blowing.. but still very impressive for a 100% PG juice!
Generally if there is a hot spot at the top like you saw its due to the top coil being to tight OR too loose.. I try to make sure theres pretty even pressure on all the coils going from top to bottom then lifting the wick in and out kinda evens out the pressure the coil is putting on the wick. Thats usual with a top coil issue.. If my hot spot is at the bottom which is rare ill disconnect the bottom and pull it a bit tighter as its from it being too lose at the bottom.. if in middle.. start over
I find also with a top coil issue.. pressing the coil into the wick if you reverse the direction of your wrap when finishing around the positive screw (which is just how i do it) i can press the wick into the top coil and a slight lifting and lowering the wick works it out pretty quick. Hot spots is generally just not an issue for me.. The top coil on occation as you saw in the video but it takes me as you saw 15 seconds to work it out..
also you would be surprised how often fiddling the coil below the hot coil will help.. the hot spot is caused by shorting the coil out against the wick at the END of the hot spot so adjusting the coil after the hot spot helps the power continue flowing down the coil until as you seen in the video where they glow together.. you NEVER put juice in until they are firing uniform
