@dallasstoneworks - This lovely Azurite geode is from a mine in Russia where the azurite can be found in roundish nodules. The majority of the nodules found there are of too poor quality or too small in size to be worth cutting so they are sold to paint companies to be crushed and used as a colorant. The few higher quality nodules will typically be cut and polished to be used in jewelry or kept as part of a collection.
The inside of the nodules are polished to reveal a great color saturation of deep blue druzy azurite crystals while the outside of the nodules were left rough and natural. This piece is one side of the nodule.
