Masca Gorge is one of the most popular walks in Tenerife. The walk starts in port of Los Gigantes where we take a short boat trip to the start of our walk. We ascend the magnificent barranco on adventurous paths below towering cliffs of volcanic rock. The ravine is full of lush vegetation and endemic plants with staggering views down to Masca Bay. Our walk ends in the pretty village of Masca.
Please note that the majority of tour operators do this walk the other way round, ie. decending from the village of Masca to Masca Beach by Los Gigantes, however, I do this walk ascending from Masca beach to the village which offers 2 distinct advantages: firstly, it’s less difficult, ie. you are not looking at your feet all of the time and secondly, the majority of other tour companies take large parties down this gorge of up to 35 people, therefore, we are not following the crowds.
