A lot of time can be saved using modern tech in this industry like cad and printing, but when it comes to small settings like pave and castle, cutting by hand still rules supreme!
For one, to do it nicely and still leave every surface as polished as possible you wind up needing to do all the same steps anyway meaning same amount of time to set, so the only real benefit is maybe a little metal savings. But along with those savings come the possible casting issues associated with casting 0.2mm beads for stones, it doesn’t always work out perfect, so cutting all by hand results in a more durable setting in my opinion. Plus it’s so much more satisfying 👌👌
