POKÉMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU REVIEW
Before I start I must clarify that I am not an expert in Pokémon but I caught the attention of the first trailer of detective pikachu and after watching the film I have a great experience.
I have many things to say about this movie so I do not know where to start.
The synopsis:
In the universe of Pokémon, Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) is a former Pokémon trainer, son of the prominent Pokémon trainer and detective Harry Goodman. When his father disappears in a car accident, Tim arrives in Ryme City and ends up meeting Detective Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds), Harry's former partner in Pokémon. Tim is able to understand the Detective, and reluctantly join to find his father and discover the mystery surrounding his disappearance. Chasing tracks through the streets of Ryme City (a mix between London and Tokyo), the dynamic duo soon discover a tortuous plot that represents a threat to the Pokémon universe.
I think the first thing that I should applaud to this film are the designs and that is that although I am not an expert in Pokémon I could notice the fidelity in the design of what I know as Bulbasaur, Snorlax, Charizard among others. The designs are realistic, but they maintain the original essence of the series, some have slight changes, but really do not notice much. Some look so cute they make you want to hug them, but others even get scared. Without a doubt my favorite Pokémon was Mewtwo which is actually my favorite, I was given to the Mewtwo that I wanted: it is terrifying as awesome. It really was the best of the movie and the best thing of all was to see Deadpool, if because when you see this movie you do not see Ryan Reynolds or Pikachu but Deadpool in the body of Pikachu and that is something sensational. It was also great to see the Mexican actor Omar Chaparro in this movie ... bony, he has a charizard, for God's sake!
Something I really loved about this movie was the soundtrack and the setting. The soundtrack is simply beautiful because it sounds like the music of Nintendo's classic games, but adapted to new technologies and really feels a techno-modern Asian environment ... do you understand? And it also helps make the scenes emotional and exciting. As for the setting: I loved the city around which the story unfolds and I return to the same, it gives a very futuristic Asian atmosphere, I think that if they are fans of Pokémon they will be shocked with the fidelity towards the original source but hey ... I guess those who did see Pokémon will understand all the references. In the end there is a tremendous spoiler on Tim's father, but he is incredibly serious, they will love it.
Pokémon detective pikachu: a film that exceeded my expectations and managed to impact even more than I expected. In fact, it's a story enjoyed by both Pokémon fans and those who are not and who knows ... with the novelty of the Sonic movie it's possible that maybe ... just maybe they're putting together a cinematic universe of smash Bros, with metroid, kirby, pacman, Zelda etc.
Still not known about the future of this film, but for the first time Japan put their characters in good hands and not exaggerating, they finally did justice to Nintendo with this epic movie.
My rating for this movie is: 9/10
The song you now hear is called "carry on" performed by Kygo and Rita Ora and is the official theme of the film.
Thanks for watching.
