Sacristy bells, so called as they used to signal the priest leaving the sacristy on the way to the altar, have been gradually replaced by other cues that Mass is beginning. But there is something very fitting that bells, rung during the Gloria in the Triduum and at the consecration at every Mass, should mark the beginning of the celebration of the sacred mysteries.
