Contamination OCD can make you feel contaminated by anything, not just germs. It can be a thought, a feeling or a person that makes something contaminated.
I have seen people who were consumed with contamination around bodily fluids, dust, “bad” people, and cleaning supplies to just name a few! OCD can be creative on what it makes you worry about, but the end result is the same - compulsions.
Common compulsions around contamination OCD often involve many things including avoidance, hand washing, and cleaning off of objects.
In this Youtube video I talk about how to take small steps using ERP (Exposure Response Prevention) a type of CBT approach (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to get small OCD relief from these intrusive thoughts and OCD compulsions. To move closer to ocd recovery use exposure therapy to make progress!
