Constipation is widespread around the world. Almost everyone experiences constipation at some point in their lives. It’s the reason for millions of clinic visits each year and more than 700,000 emergency department trips. The number of people admitted to the hospital primarily for constipation has more than doubled since 1997. The cost of that care, along with what we spend on over-the-counter laxatives, runs into the billions of dollars.
You can avoid this embarrassing problem by upping your fiber in your diet; drink plenty of fluids; eat fewer foods with low amounts of fiber such as processed foods, dairy, and meat products; and stay as active as possible and try to get regular exercise.
How to relieve constipation on the toilet:
Try to sit on the toilet for 15 minutes at the same time each day, even if you can't “go.” It can relax your digestive system and cue your body for a bowel movement. Do this: While on the toilet, you can try to rest your feet on a low stool or raise your knees above your hips.
How do you push poop out when constipated?
Push: keeping your mouth slightly open and breathing normally, push into your waist and lower abdomen (tummy). You should feel your tummy bulge out even more, this pushes the feces (poo) from the rectum (lower end of the bowel) into the anal canal (back passage).
