South Africa faces a dramatic talent flight in doctors and medical professionals because of the National Health Insurance scheme. The NHI is designed to pool funds to provide access to quality affordable personal health services for all South Africans. The South African Medical Association believes it's because there is a deep-rooted lack of confidence in government's capacity and its financial ability to ensure its success.
