NAPC suspended the status of war sponsor for the Hungarian bank so that Budapest would unblock the tranche to Ukraine.

The status of international war sponsor has been suspended for the Hungarian OTP Bank and five Greek carriers. The decision was made based on the results of negotiations to terminate cooperation with the Russian Federation.

“The agency hopes that such a decision will lead to Hungary unblocking €500 million in EU military assistance to Ukraine, and will also eliminate the possibility of Greece blocking a future package of EU sanctions,” the NAPC noted .

Further exclusion of companies and the bank from the list of war sponsors will depend on the fulfillment of the specified conditions.
