Chief Justice John Roberts comments on transparency and cameras in the court. Included in his remarks, "We're having a pilot project right now under the guidance of the of the judicial conference in terms of the lower courts to experiment with, again on a pilot basis, with television in the courts of appeals and we're going to see what the results of that are." He continues, "We are the most transparent branch of government. Everything we do that has an impact is done in public. You don't see the deliberations of committees and cabinet. You see our work in public at the Court. Our decisions are out there. The only impact we have is on the opinions, that's out there. You see the materials we look at in the briefs. What's not public is, of course, our internal discussion and conference. I don't think anybody suggests that should be. Anyway the long and short of it is, it's obviously an issue that we look at. We'll see how the project pilot goes. Take it from there. It does raise a lot of concerns for some of us, and I've obviously been sharing my views and not necessarily all the views of my colleagues. These comments were given during the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals Annual Conference. See the complete program, via C-SPAN, here: [ Ссылка ]
