Interview took place in The Academy Dublin 2016 on The Spirit of 86 30th Anniversary Tour
Interviewing Mike Peters was a passion project for me. I even made a YouTube playlist to accompany this interview, for those who wish to investigate further.

Long before I had heard of “The Big Four” and Metal was an option for me, new music was hard to find and if it wasn’t on TOTP or in the “LookIN” magazine then I didn’t know it existed. Then came Gaz Top with “Music Box” and “Get Fresh” and he introduced me to the music of The Alarm and many other great bands. I could write paragraphs about the history of the music, why Mike’s songs resonated with me so much then and still do to this day, why I think The Alarm are for more than an “also ran” ,why the negative reviews were and are way off but I’d like people to find this out for themselves. The story of The Alarm would make an amazing 3 hour “Behind the Music” or if done correctly an amazing bio pic. That’s what The Alarm’s music is. It’s the life story of Mike Peters and it has it all, drama, tragedy and redemption. While some of The Alarm’s contemporaries may have been more commercially successful, their music hasn’t been relevant for years and are still milking their previous success. Mike Peters is that rare artist who’s words and music are as relevant and passionate as it was the day he started but the point of the interview is to let Mike tell that tale himself. If I come off a little fanboy then I apologise in advance, it’s not every day you meet your heroes.
