Hello,
To all French learners, here is a lyricized version of the popular Disney song 'Hellfire' in French (called 'Infernale). If you have any music you would like me to provide lyrics for, please tell me in the comments below! It is extracted from the movie "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", in French "Le Bossu de Notre Dame".
Vocabulary (If further explanation is needed):
traîne-misère - a miserable person
chevelure - synonym of 'cheveux'. *cannot be used as a quantity
bacchanale - a roman orgy involving heavy drinking. In English, 'bacchanalia'
rideau - usually means curtain, but archaically used meaning 'veil/blanket of [sth]'.
linceul - literarily meaning a blanket used to drape a body after death, but also means shroud.
*"l'Enfer noircit ma chair" -
Direct translation was 'Hell is blackening my flesh", I changed it to make more sense without taking away meaning.
*"Fleur du mal" -
*"Les fleurs du mal" was a poetic compilation written in 1857 by Charles Baudelaire dealing with themes of decadence and eroticism. Nobody would understand out of context "The flowers of evil".
