This is a video in my new Core Concepts series -- designed to provide students and lifelong learners a brief discussion focused on one main concept from a classic philosophical text and thinker.
This Core Concept video focuses on Plato's Republic book 10, specifically on his discussion about ideas or forms, material things, and artistic reproductions, and the three sorts of makers - God, craftsmen, and artists. As we move from the idea or form into the imitations of material objects and artistic productions, we leave behind simplicity for multiplicity, and true being for a facsimile.
