This began last New Year's Eve just minutes before the ball dropped. I based the transcription on Myra Hess's transcription; there are differences in dynamics and skill level. The tempo is a suggestion and was inspired by Shiro Sagisu's performance from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Bach composed this setting using the melody Jesu, meiner Seelen Wonne by Johann Schop. It was written for the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. The music occurs in movements 6 and 10; the 6th and 17th stanzas of Janus's hymn Jesu, meiner Seelen Wonne are set here. You can learn more about the work from this article: [ Ссылка ]
Fun fact: the cantata was originally conceived for Advent 1716 as BWV 147a.
