Windshield wipers stopped working? Car wipers not working can be very inconvenient! Especially if your windshield wipers stopped working while driving and IT’S Raining. I know because I have been there!
Well don’t worry, whatever the cause of your windshield wipers not working, if you follow the 3 steps in this video, there is a very good chance you will be able to get them going again. 😀👍
Step 1: Windscreen wiper fuse – This is pretty much the number 1 thing that will cause windscreen wipers to stop working. In this step, I will show you how to find the fuse diagram and how to check for a blown fuse; including how to check a fuse without a multimeter, it can often just be done visually!
Step 2: Check the Power to the Car Wiper Motor - A lot of times replacing the fuse will get you going but BE AWARE that if there is an underlying problem, you may find that the car fuse keeps blowing. If your windshield wipers are still not moving, then you can check to see if power is getting to the motor. If it isn’t, you might have a wiring problem but if power is there, then it is likely that there is a problem with the wiper motor or the wiper mechanism itself. If you notice your windshield wipers slow on all settings, this is also an indication of this. Leading us to…
Step 3: I will show you how to check the wiper mechanism to see if it has become stiff, it can cause the motor to be slow, burn out or blow the fuse. So, if it has, I will show you how to free it up again . If your windshield wipers don’t work after this, then that leaves the motor and so, I will show you how to disassemble and inspect the wiper motor.
In this video, I followed all of these steps and in my case, the wiper motor needed to be replaced (which was completed with a good quality 2nd hand unit for £24!)
