Criticisms have been mounting in the past week over the lack of intelligence to justify America's assassination of General Qassem Soleimani.
President Donald Trump defended the decision, saying the Iranian commander was planning an 'imminent' attack.

In a tweet Monday, President Trump denounced the Democrats and the media for questioning whether Iran's top military commander Qasem Soleimani posed an imminent threat, reiterating that Soleimani was orchestrating attacks on U.S. targets.
He further defended his decision, saying that because of the general's past, whether or not an attack was imminent "doesn't really matter."
In a separate tweet, Trump wrote that the Democrats and the media are trying to make Soleimani, whom he called a terrorist, into a "wonderful guy," and in killing the general, Trump said he "did what should have been done for 20 years.”
Last Friday, Trump said in an interview with Fox News that before Soleimani was killed on January 3rd, Iran was planning to attack four American embassies in the Middle East.
The Democrats and some Republicans were unconvinced, though, because U.S. defense secretary Mark Esper said on Sunday that the president didn't cite a specific piece of evidence that Iran was planning an attack.
They also said they have not been given adequate briefings about what intelligence was used to order the strike.
Meanwhile, the Iranian government is planning to take Trump to international court for ordering Soleimani's assassination.
According to Iran's Fars News Agency, the country's chief justice said in a meeting Monday of high-level judiciary officials that the killing of Soleimani violates every law because he fought against terrorism and has supported the oppressed.
