STORYLINE
Two remote controlled bombs on a highway in Kandahar on Tuesday left one policeman dead and 6 people wounded.
The explosions were detonated one and a half hours apart by remote control.
Kandahar has previously seen such double-blast attacks - a tactic often used by insurgents in Iraq - but they are still comparatively rare in Afghanistan.
Three people in the first vehicle were moderately injured.
The four police officers in the second vehicle were badly hurt. One of them later died at the Mir Wais hospital.
"When the first police vehicle passed through the scene, the bomb exploded on the second police vehicle," Haji Gul Khan, an eyewitness at scene, told AP Television.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks.
