The Hubble Space Telescope captured an image of the jellyfish galaxy JW39, which is adrift in a galaxy cluster over 900 million light-years away. The galaxy's trailing tendrils are the result of ram-pressure stripping, a process in which the intracluster medium strips away gas and dust from galaxies. Despite this, star formation in the tendrils is not noticeably different from star formation in the galaxy disk.
