While driving during a heavy rain, my kids were in the back and notice water dripping down the back glass... I could see some slight saturation on the roof liner and the water on the inside. Uh oh. I know I needed to get this fixed and sealed quickly. Upon searching for a new third brake light/cargo light assembly, I found that there is a lens gasket between the assembly and the outer lens. I opened up the lens by removing the four screws, and sure enough, there was a gasket there--and it looked horrible. I could see a small area on the gasket that looked compromised and stained so I decided maybe the gasket would fix this issue. After install, we had hurricane Elsa roll through from the Gulf and drop a lot of water on the truck. Needless-to-say, the gasket worked. I even drove the truck through a couple heavy rains and sure enough--no water! **I would recommended checking this gasket first before adding silicone around the housing or even replacing the entire assembly.
