Nigel Farage’s UK right-wing Reform UK Party launched its manifesto on Monday (June 17) ahead of the national election in Britain, saying their ambition is to be the official opposition to a labour government.
Farage also said immigration is one of the major points of contention in this election and that the UK should leave the European Court of Human Rights to ‘restore sovereignty’ when it comes to making decisions on who enters the country.
Farage is one of Britain's most recognisable and divisive politicians who played a vital role in the 2016 vote to leave the European Union.
His unexpected entry into the election race has split support among Britain's right-of-center voters.
Farage stood unsuccessfully for a seat in parliament seven times and led parties which, despite attracting millions of votes, have failed to weaken the grip of Britain's two main parties - the Conservatives and Labour.
Farage said he was aiming to become prime minister in the next election, likely in 2029.
