By a few thousand votes, he was elected mayor of Istanbul last March. And yet, he had to return to the campaign trail, his election cancelled by the electoral commission. Imamoglu seems to have come from nowhere in the last few months with a radically different approach: "I have never fought in my life but have never been beaten either," he tells rallies.
