The One Ring of Sauron is one of the most feared artifacts in the history of Middle-earth. Many have tried to claim it for themselves, but the Ring has always sought to return to its creator, so the only way out is to destroy it.
This was the conclusion of the council gathered in Rivendell at Lord Elrond's house.
And there they began to consider who would undertake the heavy burden of bringing the One Ring to the place where it had been forged, the volcano Orodruin, in the heart of Sauron's kingdom of Mordor.
