(16 Jun 2010) HEADLINE: Burials continue as Kyrgyz army tries to end riots
CAPTION: Kyrgyzstan's weak and undersupplied military attempted Wednesday to regain control of the city of Osh, the epicenter of brutal rampages that have driven much of the ethnic Uzbek population from Kyrgyzstan's poor, rural south. (June 16)
The military in Kyrgyzstan is trying to regain control of the country's second largest city, which has been besieged by deadly rioting.
Ethnic Uzbeks have been the target of brutal rampages in the past week that have left several hundred dead.
Some took advantage of a relative calm Wednesday to bury some of those killed.

However residents say they are still hearing automatic gunfire and explosions through out the city.
Some are now setting up barricades on streets in an effort to protect their neighborhoods, and some say authorities themselves are leading the attack on the Uzbeks.
Many have since fled the city to the border with Uzbekistan border, however not everyone is being let in and many are relying on aid for survival.
The U-N is declaring that the fighting was targeted and well-planned.
It didn't name a specific culprit but it did bolster claims that the country's former president orchestrated the violence.
