What are preventive services? Preventive care and services can help detect or prevent serious diseases and medical problems before they become major issues. Preventive services often include routine screenings and exams, routine immunizations, annual check-ups, and some preventive drugs. Fear of possible costs may stop people from getting important preventive care. When exams or services are performed by an in-network provider, we offer a 100% benefit for covered preventive services for WPS Health Insurance and WPS Health Plan employer group health plans, as well as many individual health plans. This benefit encourages customers to stay on top of their health. Before you schedule your health services, it's important to know what services are considered covered preventive services and which ones aren't. Coverage may be different depending on your plan. For WPS, preventive services include most routine immunizations, routine medical exams, hearing exams, and other diagnostic services. Some routine care such as immunizations, exams and diagnostic services will not be considered covered preventive services and may be subject to your plans cost-sharing requirements or not covered. Here are a couple examples. Immunizations for influenza, polio, and tetanus are covered, but immunizations for travel purposes are not covered. Blood tests to screen for high cholesterol are covered. However, if you've already been diagnosed with high cholesterol, monitoring blood tests are subject to your plans cost-sharing.
