"T in the park in the blistering sunshine...who'd have thought?" - Tom prior to Formaldehyde
Courtesy of GaryUK, here's a recording of Editors' T in the Park performance from the 14th of July 2013. It would be wise for you to book an appointment with your chiropractor now, Sir, because it's time for you to take yet another bow. Thank you.
This was the band's 17th gig of 2013 and took place just over a fortnight after they released their 4th album, The Weight of Your Love. It seems absurd now writing this 8 years later, but they were still a comparably new band (personnel wise) when held up against their last appearance at T in the Park in 2010. Even more trippy is that in 3 months after this they would play an absolutely monster gig at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, one which would well and truly confirm their reputation in Europe.
Festival sets usually act as a safe space for stage-side participants to balance entertainment, playing the hits for the faithful and converting the uninitiated with the more accessible material from the musical inventory. Add to that the slightly sour tasting reality that Editors are a business, and there's always new product to be shifted and so it has to be included too. Lots of conditions to consider. I mention it because that's what happened at T in the Park 2013 which saw only 4 of the 11 songs on the set list being from the The Weight of Your Love, and even then each of them had been or would go on to be singles. A deck stacked in your favour will always make for a more successful game.
Enjoy the music ;)
