When to Change Sanding Discs (00:30)
Dust collecting on the back of the disc, point loading, torn edges, wrinkles on the edges, or shelling are all signs it might be time to change your sanding disc.
When to Change Back Up Pads (01:29)
Color difference - a drastic change in color between the new pad and the old pad can be an indicator of degradation of foam. This can be problematic for the finish if the foam changed and can even be a safety issue if it is too degraded.
Face material – hooks that have worn off a Hookit™ pad or adhesive built up on the back of a Stikit™ pad that can’t be cleaned off are indicators that it is time to change the pad.
Other signs: the wear of the foam around the edge or delamination of the face material between the face material and the foam.
When to Change Self-Generated Vacuum Bags (03:13)
A full dust bag - a full bag will get tight to the point and it will feel as though it won’t hold any more dust. It is a good indication it is time to change the bag if there is dust coming out from underneath the tool while you are sanding.
Damage to the bag itself - anytime that there is a rip or tear in the bag, it should be changed.
