At The Stone Clinic in San Francisco, we've seen athletes make a full recovery from a ruptured Achilles. [ Ссылка ] The way we treat the injury is different from most other places. The most common approach is to open up the wound, unfortunately losing valuable cells and growth factors that the body has produced around the injury site to begin the repair process.
We treat the rupture with a percutaneous technique of suture repair through small portals. This way, we reduce scarring and risk of infection and most importantly, we take advantage of the body's own natural ability to heal itself. A detailed physical therapy program following surgery is essential to encourage full healing and return to competitive sports. Our results of percutaneous Achilles tendon repair have been superb, with only 6 traumatic re-ruptures in twenty years of repairs.

TRANSCRIPT:
Ruptured your Achilles tendon, but if you have, you probably heard that pop when on a tennis court or basketball court, and it felt that immediate pain at the ankle, the rupture of the Achilles tendon does not need to be repaired with open surgery. We can repair it with a technique we've been improving called percutaneous repair, where we stitch the ends together without making that open incision, therefore preserving the blood clot, decreasing the risk of infection, speeding the healing and the repair. We've now been doing this for 20 years. We can get you back to your sport despite having ruptured that Achilles tendon, it does take accurate surgical repair and a real dedication on your part to a very specific rehabilitation program, but it's completely repairable completely back to sports as an outpatient procedure.
Please! Don't cut open that ruptured Achilles!
