Here is a very brief introduction to the life and art of Sarah Biffin (1784-1850). Biffin was born without arms or legs (a condition known as phocomelia) and as a child taught herself to paint using her mouth. She went on be a successful artist who painted portrait miniatures for wealthy patrons (including Queen Victoria).
