(21 Aug 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met Venezuela's Vice President Delcy Rodriguez for talks in Moscow on Wednesday.
Lavrov promised to stand "in full solidarity" with Venezeula in countering "pressure and blackmail" during the meeting at Russia's foreign ministry.
"We will always stand in solidarity with you, we will uphold every nation's right to choose the path of its development independently," he said.
The meeting comes as Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro confirmed on Tuesday that his government is talking to "senior officials" of the Trump administration.
President Donald Trump repeated Tuesday that his government is helping Venezuela "as much as we can" so that the country resolves its political and financial crises, which he attributed to socialism.
