As far as survival rate of cervical cancer are concerned, it all depends at what stage the patient has come . If patient comes early in stage 1 A, the survival rate is almost 92%. If patient comes in stage 1B, the survival rate is almost 85 to 88%. However as the stage keeps increasing, the survival rate chances keeps going down. In stage 2A and B, it may come down to almost 45 %. And 3 onwards the survival chances are very poor. However what is more important is we talk about prevention more than cure. Everywhere prevention is the most important thing, you must have seen that in a newborn baby the prevention of the prophylaxis vaccine start immediately right form the day of birth. So we have something which can prevent cervical vaccine, also called as HPV vaccine, also called as the Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine. There are two doses and nowadays there are three doses, which 100% protects the lady from developing cervical cancer in future. So we must have this. Not only that if your pap smear reports are normal, you must subject the lady to repeated pap smear every 3 years. That should always be done to rule out early cancerous changes or precancerous changes.
